PRO'S TIP
OFF SEASON EXERCISE Now, more than ever, being physically fit can benefit your golf game. The 2 most important areas for golfers are strengthening your core muscles and creating greater flexibility. The core consists of your abs, back, chest, shoulders, and upper legs. Most of us concentrate on the abs and chest but ignore the back, legs, and shoulders. Our muscles are symmetrical, thus, what you do to one side you should do to the other. For example, for every crunch you do, you should do a plank or back extension. Being strong from right to left and back to front will help your core tremendously. A by-product of a stronger core should be greater flexibility. Finding 15 minutes a day to do basic stretches will help not only your golf game but also go a long way in staying in shape and preventing exercise. For those brave enough, yoga offers the best of both worlds. Not only do you strengthen your core but you increase your flexibility. Try a class or a video today!
